Moving machine parts have the potential to cause severe workplace injuries that occur most often when workers operated unguarded or inadequately safeguarded machinery. Any machinery that can cause injury must be safeguarded such that the hazards must be eliminated or controlled. A wide variety of mechanical motions and actions can be dangerous for workers. Recognizing machine hazards and how guarding can be effective is the first step toward protecting workers.
