Spotters and Ground Guiding

A spotter is a person at the job site trained in ground guiding to direct drivers and equipment operators who may be attempting to maneuver a vehicle in a situation in which they do not have full view of the working area and hazards. Spotters and drivers (or equipment operators) must work together, and both be completely focused on the task during the signaling activities. This topic provides safety tips for spotters and drivers when ground guiding is required or requested.
